Man Utd dressing room unhappy over Erik ten Hag appointment

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford reportedly had a mixed reception from the Manchester United squad but defender Diogo Dalot suggests that is far from the truth

Diogo Dalot insists the Manchester United squad are excited to work under Erik ten Hag despite claims there has been an underwhelming response to his appointment.

The Dutchman will become United’s new boss at the end of the season and his ability to play attacking football and his previous experience of rebuilding squads is why he was the club’s preferred choice with a huge overhaul required at Old Trafford in the coming years.

There are expected to be as many as 12 departures this summer with several players unsettled at the club due to the disharmony in the dressing room dating back to the start of the season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It appears not much has changed since Ralf Rangnick took over on an interim basis based on what was reported in regards to the squad’s initial response to Ten Hag’s appointment.

The Guardian claimed the Dutchman’s arrival has had a mixed reception from the United squad, with some players ‘ambivalent and others underwhelmed.’ Mirror Football exclusively revealed during United’s search for a new manager that Mauricio Pochettino was the dressing room’s choice to take over from Rangnick.

Dalot is the first player to speak out about Ten Hag’s arrival and has contradicted those reports, however, insisting the squad is looking forward to working under the Ajax boss.

The full-back is glad that there is clarity over who will be in charge next season and has hailed the attractive football his Ajax sides have displayed over the years, including their memorable run to the Champions League semi-final in 2019.

Dalot told Sky Sports: “In our heads, it’s going to be clear who the manager will be next season and that’s good, because we go for our break … knowing who to expect. Then we’ll have time in pre-season to work together (with Ten Hag), get our ideas right and start the new season.

AC Milan and arsenal interested in signing £25 million from lille

Milan are interested in signing Jonathan David from Lille for their attack, according to what is being reported by journalist Nicolo Schira.

Schira reports on Twitter that Milan could enter into another negotiation with Lille for a player other than midfielder Renato Sanches and defender Sven Botman, who have been strongly linked for the last few weeks. The player in question is Jonathan David and the journalist writes that he ‘is ready to leave’ Lille once the transfer window reopens. The Canada international has scored 17 goals this year, alternating between the role of second striker and centre-forward. He is valued at €50m by the well-known site Transfermarkt, while it is mentioned that for Milan there will also be the interest of Arsenal to compete with. Given that the Milan-Lille axis is very active and the two managements know each other well, it could be that the Rossoneri have a slight advantage.

Jamie O’Hara has said Tottenham will defeat the gunners when they meet.

Former Tottenham midfielder, Jamie O’Hara, has claimed that Antonio Conte’s side will have enough to beat Arsenal in a few weeks’ time.

The two north London rivals are neck and neck in the race for the top four but face off with each other on the 12th of May in what could be a deciding fixture in the calendar. Before that, Tottenham take on Liverpool, while Arsenal have an easier game – on paper anyway – at home to Leeds.

However, O’Hara believes that both teams will slip up at some point anyway and that when it comes to the NLD in 10 days, it will be Tottenham who come out on top.

“It’s the biggest north London derby in recent times. I just fancy us under the lights, with the front three that we’ve got, if we step up, I think we’ll turn them over. This is a young Arsenal side, and credit to them, nobody expected them to be where they are and they’ve done really well. They’re a good young team. But I just think we’ve got a bit more experience and when the pressure’s on, we’ll find a way to get it done,” O’Hara told Talksport this morning.

The Best XI Already NOT Going To The 2022 World Cup

Just a two points separates the two sides at the moment, while Arsenal are only three off of Chelsea in third.

O’Hara has a point here in that in Kane and Son, Spurs do have two at the top of the pitch with the quality and experience to win this game. Those two could win the game on their own, and they have done on more than one occasion this season.

But as we know in football, it’s never straight forward. Arsenal might well fancy their chances, especially with this young and vibrant squad in such fine form.

A win over your biggest rivals to essentially seal the top four would be massive. Indeed, it’s a huge incentive for the Gunners players.
